The Chinese Zodiac (known as Sheng Xiao) is similar to the Western Zodiac in that it follows a cycle of 12 elements that reflect personal characteristics. However, our zodiac is based on 12 months of the year whereas the Chinese zodiac is based on 12 years. The Chinese believe that people who are born in a particular year of the 12 year cycle take on the characteristics of an animal.
Get a worksheet from the teacher - "Chinese Zodiac" Follow the activities on your worksheet and use the links below to find out about the characteristics of the animal that represents the year you were born in.
Chinese New Year   These are interactive lessons designed to teach respect and appreciation of another culture and help make Chinese New Year become a memorable experience for all. 1) First - Watch the 4 videos. 2) Then- Click on the Online Interactive Lesson,  find your animal sign, select it and read about it. 3) After that- Choose Any of the Additional Activites.  Activities are arranged by Grade Level.
