Benedetto- Citizen of the Year 2006 for her many years of generous service to Hammonton and the South Jersey area. As a dedicated volunteer and true leader, she especially supports programs that aid children and promote the best for women. Without ever seeking praise or recognition, she has freely given her time and energy to services that have made a difference in the lives of our citizens. She was honored for many years of dedicated service as a member of the Soroptimist Club for 48 years as well as her volunteer efforts at Kessler Memorial Hospital and the Boutique on the Bellevue store, where proceeds go to the hospital. She has also served our community in many roles as a teacher at Hammonton High School for 28 years and as a Hammonton Board of Education member for a 3-year term. This remarkable life long resident of Hammonton has always been there to help. According to her friend Kathi Ewer, who nominated Benedetto for this honor, "Volunteers are not easily found in today's world but just ask Rita and she'll help you!"
