Contest Winners

The Hammonton Lions Club, has completed its Third Annual Pet Photo Contest that benefited Canine Hearing Companions in Vineland, NJ , a Lions district and state project. Chairpersons Mary Gillespie and Lori Orsi were very pleased to have over 150 entries. The final amount raised was $1000 which included photo and straight donations. It was very difficult for the judges to select the winning photos. Judges included members of the Hammonton Lions Club, representatives of our local newspapers, and artist Terri Sliwecki. They made their selections based on the photos which they felt best illustrated each category. There are six $25 first prize gift certificates and eighteen $10 honorable mention certificates donated by J-B Wholesale Pet Supplies, Inc and the Hammonton Lions Club. We want to thank J-B Wholesale Pet Supplies for their generosity. The grand prize winners, Cheryl and William Kehner of Sea Isle, NJ will receive a framed pastel portrait of their cats. Henry and Annie, by Southern New Jersey artist, Terri Sliwecki. It is quite evident all the pets entered in this contest were winners because they have such caring owners. The donations made on their pet's behalf is benefiting an organization to train dogs to be hearing companions. What a winning combination!!!!!!

The Contest Rules Were As Follows:

All photos must feature at least one dog or cat.
Four prizes will be awarded in each of the six categories. First prize is $25 gift certificate to a pet supply retailer. All other winners will receive a $10 gift certificate.
A grand prize of a pastel rendering of your pet, by renowned artist Terry Sliwecki will be awarded through a random drawing of all participants.
The entry fee is $5 per image. There is no limit to the number of entries. Please make check or money order payable to: The Hammonton Lions Club and mail entries to P.O. Box 22, Hammonton, NJ 08037.
Entries may be color or black and white prints no larger than 5X7.
Entries must be postmarked no later than April 30th.
Each photo must be labeled with your pet's name, your name, address, phone number and the category in which you wish the photo to be entered.
If you would like your photos returned, enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope with your entry.
The Hammonton Lions Club reserves the right to publish winning entries in newspapers and on this website and other Lions' websites.

Canine Hearing Companions, Inc., located in Vineland, NJ, obtains, trains and provides hearing dogs to the hearing impaired in this area and within the state. Hearing Dogs help thousands of deaf people lead more independent and secure lives. The center is dedicated to rescueing dogs from the shelter and training them to work as "EAR" for the deaf.
